League of Legends Showcase Milestones Guide - All Rewards, Total Cost

Want to finish this milestone path? Better ready your wallet.

First, it was Mythic Essence, then Masterwork Milestones. Today, Riot Games has detailed its new Showcase Milestones system. Whereas the last update focused on Masterwork Chests, this reward track is exclusively for event capsules, only available during a specific event with progress expiring at the end of it. In this guide, we explain what event capsules are, how this new reward track works, and what kind of money investment you can expect to make.

What Are Event Capsules?

Before we talk about anything, there’s one important thing to keep in mind: Orbs are not Capsules. The current Anima Squad 2022 event with Orbs as a reward are a completely different thing. Capsules are normally reserved for events where a paid battle pass is not available. These are called Showcase Events, which spotlight a specific skin line release — in this case, it’s the upcoming Eclipse Knights Showcase.

Each capsule contains three random skin shards with a 3.5% chance of getting a grab bag drop. These Eclipse Grab Bags contain one skin shard worth 1350 RP or lower, two skin shards worth 975 RP or more shard, a small chance at bonus Mythic Essence and two additional skin shards worth 975 RP or more, with an increased Mythic Skin drop rate of 0.05% a laughable improvement over the normal 0.04% drop rate.

Showcase Milestone Rewards

In the latest patch notes, Riot says “the rewards for Eclipse Knights are a little sweeter than what future showcases will have on offer.” With that in mind, anything below could easily change for the next event.

  • 1 Capsule: Eclipse Knight 2022 Icon
  • 3 Capsules: Prestige Eclipse Knight Senna Emote + 5 Mythic Essence
  • 5 Capsules: Random Eclipse 2022 Epic Skin Permanent (Lunar Eclipse Aatrox, Lunar Eclipse Senna, Solar Eclipse Sejuani, Sun-Eater Kayle) + 15 Mythic Essence
  • 10 Capsules: Random Eclipse 2022 Epic Skin Permanent + 20 Mythic Essence
  • 15 Capsules: Random Eclipse 2022 Epic Skin Permanent + 25 Mythic Essence
  • 20 Capsules: Random Eclipse 2022 Epic Skin Permanent + Eclipse 2022 Grab Bag + 30 Mythic Essence
  • 25 Capsules: 2 Eclipse 2022 Grab Bags + 30 Mythic Essence

In total, not including the capsules you’ve paid money for, the rewards are the Eclipse Knight 2022 Icon, the Prestige Eclipse Knight Senna Emote, all four Eclipse 2022 Epic Skin Permanents, three Eclipse 2022 Grab Bags, and 125 Mythic Essence.

What is the Value Here?

Don’t expect this to come cheap, however. A single capsule has historically cost 750 RP (about $6) with bundles of ten going for 7,500 RP (about $55).  If you were to outright purchase the four new skins coming with the Eclipse 2022 event, it would cost you 5,870 RP (about $45). Getting them all via event capsules costs 15,000 RP (about $110). Honestly, at that point, you’re likely to pick up five more capsules to get the guaranteed grab bags. Obviously, you’d pick up a lot of additional loot as well, but it’s not like this system is cheaper — it just provides more value if you’re willing to spend a ton of cash.

If you want to unlock every skin in the game, this is certainly one of the best ways to do so. Buying 25 capsules will leave you with four guaranteed skins, 125 Mythic Essence (either a single Prestige skin or 12 random skin shards), and 75 skin shards from the capsules. You’re also guaranteed to get three Eclipse Grab Bags, and odds are you’ll get an additional bag when opening 25 capsules. A 4% drop rate comes out to exactly one grab bag per 25 capsules on average. Those contain three skin shards each for a total of 28 more skin shards.

That’s a whole lot to try and wrap your head around, so here’s a quick summary:

  • Four guaranteed skins from the new line
  • 125 Mythic Essence, which is either one Prestige skin or 12 skin shards
  • 85 to 95 additional skin shards from capsules and grab bags

Again, that’s a great value for people who just want the most bang for their buck. But for anyone who only wants the new skins, stick to purchasing exactly what you want. If you’re trying to own as many skins as possible, we recommend checking out our Skin Shard Guide where we talk about whether you should upgrade, disenchant, or reroll each based on their value.

The next time major release for the Mythic Content overhaul is the event pass evolved update, where Riot will be converting the mission and milestone system into a more traditional 50-level battle pass!
