It looks like Bungie might be working on a new, competitive-focused game in the Destiny universe, according to a job listing from the studio.
The listing is for a Senior Concept Artist position (thanks TheGamePost), which specifically says the job is working on a “new game” rather than working on new content for Destiny 2. The list of responsibilities say the person who gets the job would help to “continually push aesthetics of the Destiny universe,” as well as lists “experience with and love of competitive games” under preferable skills. So while the job description doesn’t tell us too much, we can at least assume whatever Bungie’s working on is set in the Destiny universe, a competitive game, and something other than Destiny 2. Since the second game is popping off these days, it seems unlikely Bungie would be looking to make a Destiny 3 that moves on, so it seems most probable the game is some kind of spin-off. But we’ll have to wait and see.
Destiny 3 or not, it does seem like it will have some live elements, as alongside working on concept art for “guns, characters, armors, vehicles, [and] environments,” the listing also notes the artist would help with “seasonal art needs,” which may refer to seasonal content updates.

While a new game may be on the horizon, Destiny fans aren’t exactly lacking in video game right now. Destiny 2 is currently going through the Season of the Haunted event, which is set to last up until August 23. For more on that, check out the full calendar guide we have right here.
