Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is officially live and it’s time to roll for initiative! Set in the Borderlands equivalent of Dungeons & Dragons, players will join explosive aficionado Tiny Tina and her crew in a game of Bunkers and Badasses. While this title retains the same shooter-looter design of the core entries, it embraces a medieval setting that constantly changes under the whims of your Bunker-Master.
With the release of the Coiled Captors DLC, players can now access the new Mirrors of Mystery endgame activity. Revolving around freeing an old god, this mode has players battling through arenas of enemies while completing objectives like trying to outrun encroaching lava or solving very rudimentary puzzles. Broken up across four different difficulties, you may be wondering how to increase the difficulty of this activity. Unfortunately, the only answer is to wait.
How to Increase Mirrors of Mystery
For whatever reason, the different difficulty levels in Mirrors of Mystery are time-gated. At the time of this writing, you can only access Difficulty 1 when you arrive at Dreamveil Overlook. Similar to Chaos Trials, you need to complete the difficulty level you currently have access to in order to unlock the next. So if you want to reach Difficulty 3, you need to beat Difficulty 2 first. However, there’s one key difference. Where things diverge is Mirrors of Mystery will make you wait a full week before you gain access to the next difficulty setting.
You may have noticed some players gained access to higher difficulties. This appears to have been a bug and was already patched out in a hotfix released yesterday. Right now, all you can do is wait until the next difficulty setting becomes available if you want to do something other than run the same version of Mirrors of Mystery over and over again. Given the actual encounters and the boss won’t change, this can make Mirrors of Mystery a very repetitive activity.
Here are the unlock times for each difficulty setting:
- Difficulty 2: April 28 – 9:30 a.m. PT
- Difficulty 3: May 5 – 9:30 a.m. PT
- Difficulty 4: May 12 – 9:30 a.m. PT
Right now, I would recommend running it once so that the Chum boss can appear in the Chaos Trials, and then focus on increasing your Chaos Rank. With the Chaos level cap raised from 20 to 35, you have a lot of grinding ahead of you if you want to get the best gear available. This is because there’s a new Primordial variant of loot that is currently the best in the entire game but only drops at 35. You can also farm some of the new loot in Mirrors of Mystery, like the Tidebreaker spell that introduces the Soaked status effect. Perfect for Lightning or Frost builds, players will deal 150% increased damage to any enemy hit with the Tidebreaker’s wave attack.
There are no other questlines or things to do in this DLC, so you’ll unfortunately need to wait three additional weeks for everything in Coiled Captors to become playable.
