How to Change Hair, Eye Color, and Makeup in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Get a fresh cut at one of the Galar's many salons

There are a lot of character customization options in Pokemon Sword and Shield. After choosing a preset character model and beginning your adventure, it won’t be long until you run into a clothing boutique that sells new duds for you to strut around in. The first one can be found in the town of Wedgehurst, just beyond Route 1. There are shirts, jackets, shoes, pants, hats, backpacks, glasses, and even socks available for purchase. But that’s not the end of the character customization options. You can also change your trainer’s hair! Here’s how to do it.

In order to change your character’s hair style, you’re going to need to visit a hair salon. You wont encounter one until you reach the city of Motostoke, which is beyond the Wild Area a bit into the game. Motostoke is a large city, with two different levels filled with alleyways and corners to explore, which can make the hair salon a bit hard to spot. It’s located on the lower level along the main thoroughfare just beyond the first Pokemon Center. You should spot it on the right side of the street before you make it to the lift up to the second level.

Once you complete the first gym challenge and proceed beyond Motostoke, hair salons can be found in the following Galar region towns: Hammerlocke, Cichester, and Wyndon. Typically, the salons are situated next to the town’s clothing boutique, which gives you easy access to most of the major character customization options at once.

You’ll have several options to weigh once you’re inside the hair salon. The first is if you want to change your trainer’s hair or makeup. That’s right, the salon offers more than just haircuts. In total, there are two options to choose from at the salon’s counter:

  • Changing hair costs 3,000 poké-bucks
  • Changing makeup costs 1,000 poké-bucks

There are 12 different hairstyles for female trainers and eight for males, and several color options that can be applied to each one (although I’m not sure why anyone would choose something other than pink). Here are the names of the male options:

  • Short style
  • Caesar cut
  • Medium and wavy
  • Braids
  • Undercut
  • Sidepart
  • Bowl cut
  • Long hair

And the female choices:

  • Short bob
  • Medium curls
  • Romantic tuck
  • Sideswept waves
  • Pixie cut
  • High pigtails
  • Ponytail
  • Braided pigtails
  • Long and straight
  • Braids
  • Curly bob

In addition, female avatars are able to change the style of their bangs. There are three bang options:

  • Sideswept bangs
  • Blunt bangs
  • No bangs at all

As for makeup options, you’re able to alter eye color, as well as eyebrow style and color. There are three eyebrow styles:

  • Normal eyebrows
  • Thick eyebrows
  • Thin eyebrows

Female trainers have access to another makeup option as well: eyelash style. There are three of them:

  • Natural eyelashes
  • Cat-eye extension eyelashes
  • Doll-eye extension eyelashes

Another female-only makeup option is lipstick color. You can pick from seven different lipstick colors:

  • Pale pink
  • Orange
  • Pink
  • Red
  • Maroon
  • Blue
  • Green

And that’s it for hair and makeup options in Pokemon Sword and Shield. What are your favorite styles and accessories? Let us know in the comments section below!
