How to Beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11 - Tips, Strategy, Best Ending

Kronika is the final boss of Mortal Kombat 11 — whether you play the full story campaign or just one of the classic Towers. Unless you’re only playing online, you’re probably going to have to face her eventually. And you should! The story mode is fantastic. But Kronika won’t make it easy to see most of the game’s three endings. She’s not a big, bulky bruiser like Shao Kahn, but she’s still no pushover. Which is why we’ve put together this guide full of tips and strategies to beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11. Let’s take a look at how to beat this time-tempered tyrant!

How to Beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11 – Method 1

The first strategy we used to beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11 uses time-tested tactics. Kronika can’t be knocked over by a lot of normal attacks, so let’s turn that against her. First, jump in as close as possible with a back kick. You should be aiming to hit Kronika with most of Fire God Liu Kang’s leg. As soon as you land, follow up with a crouching back punch. Most of the time, this one-two punch will throw Kronika off balance and send her flying. Rinse and repeat, making sure to block her projectiles.

When Kronika sends out a random fighter for you to face, it’s time to switch things up. Since most of your special moves don’t work on Kronika, you should bust them out now. A double-amplified Bicycle Kick will knock out over half of the copy’s health. Now is also the time to use your Fatal Blows and Krushing Blows if you have them, since they don’t work on Kronika herself.

How to Beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11 – Method 2

Kronika also suffers from the same issue as a lot of Mortal Kombat 11 AI fighters. She doesn’t deal well with alternating combos of normal attacks. More than that, most of her own moves have long startup times — as if she was making up for your lack of specials by exclusively using them herself. By comparison, Fire God Liu Kang has some seriously normal strings (even better than the normal version of the fighter).

Your standard three-hit combo will work wonders here. That’s Front Punch, Back Punch, Front Kick on Liu Kang. The idea is to get in close and use it on Kronika two or three times. The opening Front Punch has a much quicker startup than most of the boss’s attacks, allowing you to interrupt and punish her in most circumstances. As in every other Mortal Kombat 11 fight, though, Kronika will eventually get wise. The game doesn’t look too kindly on just spamming the exact same attack or string over and over again.

So you need to break things up. Do so by using a Fire God Liu Kang original: a series of forward Front Kicks (X on PS4, A on Xbox One, and B on Nintendo Switch). Spamming this attack several times in a row will actually create a pretty long combo with Fire God Liu Kang. And, just like the basic three-hit string, it’s usually faster than Kronika. Use it two or three times and then switch back again. Repeat the process, making sure to stay up close to the Mortal Kombat 11 boss, and prepare for her to tag in that crony. The same tips from Method 1 still apply here (use Fatal and Krush Blows on the normal foe, amplify your specials, etc.). Then continue the combo spam until Kronika falls.

How to Unlock the Best Ending in Mortal Kombat 11

Now this is where things get tricky. Mortal Kombat 11 actually has three different endings depending on how you beat Kronika. Well, technically, one of them comes from losing to Kronika. Doing so will unlock a short cutscene where Liu Kang gets waxed and the final boss gets her way. That’s obviously not the ending we’re shooting for! But it might be worth watching, if you just want to see everything the game has to offer.

The other two endings require some work — and the very best ending in Mortal Kombat 11 is the hardest to unlock by far.

For the “normal” ending, you just need to beat Kronika while losing one round. Losing a round for the first time will trigger a unique cutscene, followed by a change of scenery. But be careful! If you lose to Kronika in this new stage you will have to restart her fight from the beginning. And, considering how tricky she can be, that’s not an optimal outcome. If you win, though, you will get a fairly happy ending for the Mortal Kombat universe. Yay!

The best ending in Mortal Kombat 11 is simple to achieve, but hard to execute. You need to beat Kronika two rounds in a row without losing. Put another way, you have to beat Kronika without seeing the cutscene that transports you to the second stage — away from the jungle zone where you begin the boss battle. This is tough, even on normal difficulty, but don’t fret! You can retry as many times as you need. Just use the tips and strategies we described above for best results.

And there you have it! That’s how to beat Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11 and unlock the best ending. Good luck, have fun, and keep at it.
