Horizon Forbidden West Missions List - How Long is Forbidden West?

From east to west.

It’s officially launch day for Horizon Forbidden West, and as you may have noticed already, there is quite a lot of ground to cover. Developer Guerrilla Games has doubled down on the foundation built with Horizon Zero Dawn, expanding the open world with new activities, machines to face, and weapons to use against them. If you’re wondering how long it takes to see the story through, you can find the Horizon Forbidden West missions list below, as well as details about what to expect.

If you’re in need of more help, we also have guides covering the missions list and how long the game is, how to unlock the glider and Smoke Bombs, the complete list of skills, how free fast travel works, a Cinnabar Sands walkthrough for your first Tallneck, and 20 tips.

Horizon Forbidden West Missions List

Below you can find the full Horizon Forbidden West missions list:

  • Reach For The Stars (Level 3)
  • The Point Of The Lance (Level 4)
  • To The Brink (Level 5)
  • The Embassy (Level 7)
  • Death’s Door (Level 10)
  • The Dying Lands (Level 15)
  • The Broken Sky (Level 17)
  • The Eye Of The Earth (Level 17)
  • The Kulrut (Level 18)
  • Cradle Of Echoes (Level 20)
  • The Sea Of Sands (Level 22)
  • Seeds Of The Past (Level 24)
  • Faro’s Tomb (Level 26)
  • Gemini (Level 30)
  • All That Remains (Level 31)
  • The Wings Of The Ten (Level 32)
  • Singularity (Level 35)

Yes, each mission has a specific level attached to it. This is a general requirement, but don’t fret, as you can take on main missions even if you’re below the required level. Whether or not you end up facing a bigger challenge than expected depends on your chosen difficulty. Taking on missions on Easy difficulty while being two levels behind, for example, may prove to be a straightforward task than doing so in Hard or higher.

How Long is Horizon Forbidden West?

17 missions is a lot, but there are varying lengths depending on the task at hand. The Point of The Lance, for example, is labelled as an Interlude and doesn’t take too long. But the further you venture into the story, the more the world around you opens up. While it’s fine to just focus on the main story, doing so would mean missing out on many other activities.

If you’re wondering how long Horizon Forbidden West is, you can expect between 20 to 30 hours, getting closer to either end if you just focus on the main story alone or take on a few side activities here and there. Fanbyte staff writer Mike Williams, who wrote the review, had 75 hours before the endgame sprint — but that wasn’t without a large focus on side missions and various other tasks.

They seem like very good friends.

Speaking of which, there is a ton to do on the sidelines. Alongside the Horizon Forbidden West missions list, you can spend dozens of hours doing side missions, errands, hunting Tallnecks, exploring ruins, trying to beat the highest score in weapon trials, and much more.

In addition, many of the pre-existing mechanics and upgrade paths present in Horizon Zero Dawn have been greatly expanded. Armors, for example, allow for much more customization now, and the options aren’t as limited as before. The same applies to weapons — there are quite a few of them, and each has its own upgrade path. Horizon Forbidden West is a big as you want for it to be. And, if you’re like me, expect to have at least a couple hours from photo mode alone.
