Geras Guide: Mortal Kombat 11 Character Strengths, Weaknesses, Tips

Mortal Kombat 11 is all about changing the past and the future. So, naturally, it needed some time manipulating bad guys to raise the stakes. Geras is one such villain: the right hand of new Mortal Kombat antagonist Kronica, and master of the sands of time. He’s also a very, very strange type of fighting game character to play. So we went ahead and created this guide to Geras in Mortal Kombat 11. Let’s take a look!

Geras Strengths & Weaknesses – Mortal Kombat 11

Every character in Mortal Kombat 11 sports multiple loadouts. With a mixture of loot, augments, skins, and more, you can tailor the look and feel of your fighter however you like. And there are some truly nasty combinations — though the game limits how many abilities you can bring into battle. Some characters are more flexible than others, too, but every fighter generally has a basic set of strengths and weaknesses. So let’s take a look at basic pros and cons of playing Geras in Mortal Kombat 11.

Strengths

Geras is a grappler. Naturally, that means he likes to get in close and pummel his foes. And he’s got some fascinating ways to do just that. Specifically, he has a charging command grab that doesn’t just close the distance; it can drag opponents all the way to the wall, where he can further punish unsuspecting players. Geras is also unique for a grappler in that he has a ton of ranged options. He can pull players into place with quicksand and pummel them from a distance with hammers.

What makes Geras truly unique in Mortal Kombat 11 (and indeed most fighting games), though, is his time manipulation. He can literally turn back the clock to add more time to each match, or reduce it to try and win by default. He even has access to a move that lets him rewind several seconds of his own moves. That way you can erase your mistakes — at the cost of a ton of stamina.

Weaknesses

Since Geras is so strange, it’s tough to say what weaknesses he’ll have before Mortal Kombat 11 is out. He certainly seems exceptionally strong. His main weakness seems to be choice. Specifically, you have to choose between his truly wild time abilities when setting up his loadout. On top of that, as a grappler, his aerial skills aren’t what they could be. Even his ranged attacks (sand traps) grow out of the ground — not to mention you have to decide to cast them close, medium, or far. Geras will almost certainly be a super tricky character to play.

Geras Tips – Mortal Kombat 11

  • Geras just gets better and better in the corners. Thankfully, his charging attack can carry opponents exactly where he wants them — and he gets bonus damage if he manages to drag them there.
  • Geras has some really powerful traps and ranged attacks for a fighter his size. Use them to zone opponents accordingly!
  • You can use this fighter’s ability to freeze time as a very easy combo setup. This makes it easy to practice his attack strings in a live environment.
