Fortnite Season 9 Skins Challenges Guide - All Cosmetic Variation Unlocks

Because dedicated quests for the evolving skins wasn’t enough, Epic Games has added challenges to each and every one of the Fortnite Season 9 skins. Challenges aren’t viewable until you’ve progressed your Battle Pass far enough, but that’s why we’re here! Here are the skins you’ll be chasing and their challenges.

Battle Pass details are still coming out, but here are the skins you’ll be chasing. From left to right they are: Stratus, Bunker Jonesy, Rox, Vendetta, Sentinel, Demi, and Vega! Vendetta is the Tier 100 skin. Sentinel and Rox are unlocked at Tier 1 of the paid Battle Pass.

Fortnite Season 9 Rox Challenges

Rox is one of the most customizable skins ever created, with four unlockable costume stages, three unlockable color options, and three more unlockable accent color options. There are about 80 total different combinations! Her challenges also grant a set of matching, dual-wield pickaxes, which are a brand-new class of harvesting tool for Season 9. Complete her set by unlocking Peace Out, an adorable emote that would be at home on any kpop idol’s Instagram feed.

  • Collect 35 Fortbytes (Black Coloring)

Fortnite Season 9 Sentinel Challenges

Sentinel, our favorite robot chicken inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, only has two challenges, though one of them is “staged” into two parts. Sentinel’s matching back bling, “Hot Wing,” is awarded after completion of the associated challenge’s first stage. The second stage requires you to reach Tier 99 in the Season 9 Battle Pass — for this, a black-and-gold style of Hot Wing is awarded. Jump Jets, the unlockable emote, gives Sentinel (or any skin, once it’s equipped) the ability to do a cool little levitation/spin move, which is definitely something we’ve seen a mobile suit do in the past.

  • Complete ALL 2 CHALLENGES to earn the reward item. (Banner Icon)
  • Collect 10 Fortbytes (Stage 1 Backpack)
  • Collect 20 Fortbytes (Jump Jets Emote)

Fortnite Season 9 Bunker Jonesy Challenges

Season 9’s opening cinematic contained a harrowing scene where, out of desperation and hunger, Jonesy ate Peely, his best friend and everyone’s favorite person-sized living banana. We’re not really sure if Peely is dead, per se, since the banana shake Jonesy is seen drinking later has Peely’s lovable face, which is clearly still aware of its surroundings. But does that mean Jonesy should get a pass? Does Bunker Jonesy deserve two exclusive challenges, which award a set of dual-wield harvesting axes and a banana-skin cape? We’ll let you be the judge.

  • Collect 30 Fortbytes (Pickaxe)
  • Collect 40 Fortbytes (Backpack)

Fortnite Season 9 Vendetta Challenges

Vendetta’s challenges can only be accessed once your Battle Pass has reached Tier 100, since Vendetta himself is the reward for reaching Tier 100. In order to get him looking as fly as he does on all the Season 9 loading screens, you’ll have to complete the below challenges to progressively unlock his style and color options, as well as his unique pickaxe and back bling.

  • Complete ALL 12 CHALLENGES to earn the reward item. (Banner Icon)
  • Gain 20,000 XP (Stage 2)
  • Gain 75,000 XP (Stage 3)
  • Gain 150,000 XP (Stage 4)
  • Gain 250,000 XP (Stage 5)
  • Complete 45 Weekly Challenges (Teal Style)
  • Complete 55 Weekly Challenges (Backpack)
  • Complete 65 Weekly Challenges (Golden Style)
  • Outlast 5,000 Opponents (Pickaxe)
  • Outlast 10,000 Opponents (Black Style)
  • Collect 80 Fortbytes (Green Style)
  • Collect 85 Fortbytes (White Style)

Fortnite Season 9 Demi Challenges

Demi, Season 9’s cybernetic femme fatale, is unlocked once you reach Tier 87 of the Battle Pass. Her two challenges come along with her, and while she doesn’t have any unlockable styles or colors, she does have her own matching pickaxe and back bling. We’re curious to find out if her back bling is supposed to represent melee weapons, or if it’s the symbol of some in-universe organization that will become relevant during Season 9.

  • Collect 70 Fortbytes (Pickaxe)
  • Collect 75 Fortbytes (Backpack)

Fortnite Season 9 Stratus Challenges

Stratus unlocks at Tier 71 of the Battle Pass, as do the pair of challenges that go along with him. He’s unique among all of these skins in that one of his challenges rewards a glider, which none of the other skins can claim. You hear that, chicken robot? Just because you’re literally a Gundam, and I’m just a comparatively less impressive but still pretty cool street clothes guy from the future, that doesn’t mean you’re better than me! I’ve got a glider!

  • Collect 60 Fortbytes (Glider)
  • Collect 65 Fortbytes (Backpack)

Fortnite Season 9 Vega Challenges

Vega, interestingly enough, is somewhere between the staged skins and the less complicated ones. Unlocked at Tier 47, her four accompanying challenges award a matching pickaxe, matching back bling, and two additional colors, but no costume “evolutions” like those seen on Vendetta or Rox. We’re a bit disappointed to see that she doesn’t get a claw hand or a cool mask, like some Vegas we know, but her cloak is pretty dope on its own.

  • Outlast 2,500 Opponents (Backpack)
  • Outlast 7,500 Opponents (Blue Style)
  • Collect 40 Fortbytes (Green Style)
  • Collect 55 Fortbytes (Pickaxe)
