The MP5 has been featured in the majority of the Call of Duty series and it makes its return in the latest entry, Black Ops Cold War. You’ve likely seen your opponents using it often while playing its multiplayer modes, thanks to its lightweight handling, high rate of fire, and ability to take out enemies from close to medium range. But which attachments are the best? After all, there are so many to choose from.

Below, we’ll cover the most effective loadout for the MP5 in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, along with the best attachments to use.

Why the MP5?

The MP5 just feels good to use. Despite its fast rate of fire, it’s fairly accurate, and packs a punch, even at medium range. Its lightweight handling allows you to run and gun like it’s nobody’s business and even excels when firing from the hip. It’s a classic weapon for a reason and works well in a lot of situations.

While there are a slew of attachments you can use for all different types of builds, we like the ones listed above since they allow you to be as aggressive as possible without sacrificing accuracy.

You shouldn’t need an optic, as the MP5’s iron sights are quite usable and since you’ll be mostly using this build at medium to close range, adding a scope would be a waste of an attachment slot.

We really like the Agency Suppressor for a couple reasons. Most importantly, it keeps you off the enemy’s mini-map, which is key when sneaking up and getting into the opposing team’s spawn. It also gives you a noticeable boost to your vertical recoil control. Even with its 25 percent damage range reduction, you should still find this attachment useful since you won’t be using the MP5 at long range.

The 9.5” Task Force barrel is a must — particularly due to its damage increase of six percent. That doesn’t sound like much, but the slight increase can be the difference between life and death. Since Black Ops Cold War is such a fast paced game, you’ll need all the firepower you can get. This barrel also boosts the weapon’s damage range and bullet velocity, so we highly recommend using it.

Next, it’s a good idea to increase the MP5’s magazine size. The Stanag 50 round drum comes in handy when facing off against multiple enemies at once. This compliments the silencer and will help you when flanking around inside the enemy’s spawn. Though, keep in mind, the bigger the magazine size, the slower your weapon will feel. If you find the 50 round drum to be too slow, then at the very least we recommend the 40 round drum. Whatever you do, don’t use the stock 30 round mags unless you’re playing a slower-paced game mode like Search and Destroy.

Since you’ll be facing off against multiple enemies at close range, you’ll want to increase your aim down sights (ADS) speed as much as possible. That’s where the Serpent Wrap handle comes into play, as it boosts your ADS time by 25 percent. You’ll notice a difference with this attachment and when combined with the slight bump in damage thanks to the 9.5” Task Force barrel, you should find that you’ll win more firefights than normal.

Finally, to top things off, remove the weapon’s stock completely to improve its sprint to fire time. This, again, will increase the speed at which you can take out enemies and is ideal when running around close to the enemy.

The nice thing about the MP5 is that it’s quite versatile, meaning you don’t have to stick to this loadout. However, we found that it excels in close quarters engagements, and these particular attachments compliment a fast paced play style.

Even with no attachments, the MP5 shreds, but when you use this build, you become nearly unstoppable if you know how to use it. Just don’t go around trying to snipe enemies with it because you’ll lose 9/10 gunfights.
