Partway through the Grantebridgescire arc of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Eivor is made to do a bit of detective work, and deduce who the traitor is among Soma’s inner circle. There’s quite a bit at stake here, especially if you’re invested in Soma as a character, so you’ll want to nail the traitor and make sure you’ve made the correct choice. In this guide we’ll explain who the traitor is and highlight what happens when you’re right or wrong.

The Identity of Soma’s Traitor – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Traitor Choice
Soma’s in quite the predicament. After retaking Grantebridge, she recounts to Eivor how Anglo-Saxon warriors infiltrated the town when she held it years ago. Thing is, they were undoubtedly aided by someone close to Soma, in her inner circle of captains.
These captains are Birna, Lif, and Galinn. At this point, Valhalla gives you a single quest with each captain, so you’ll need to venture out and help them in retaking a specific part of Grantebridgescire before you can ascertain the identity of Soma’s traitor.
These quests are really short, but they can give you some insight into who the traitor actually is. For example, you’ll find a note in Birna’s quest revealing that an enemy character told his soldiers not to fire on the traitor’s boat, which was painted yellow. You can then later find a note saying that Lif had yellow paint, but it was stolen by someone. Dun, dun, dun!
We’ll make this quick and painless for you: Galinn is the traitor. In the Stench of Treachery quest line, return to Soma after aiding all three of her captains in the local region, and she’ll ask you to accuse the traitor. Tell her that Galinn is the traitor within her inner circle, and she’ll thank you, before executing Galinn.
At this point, Eivor, Soma, Lif, and Birna will all journey to a nearby location within Grantebridgescire, to hunt down a local British ruler, hellbent on eradicating Danes from the land. Proceed into the monastery, and assassinate/butcher the leader while Soma aids you in combat, making the entire thing a hell of a lot easier.
What happens when you return to Soma’s camp can change drastically depending on whether or not you correctly identified the traitor. If you deduced that Galinn was the traitor, and accused him accordingly, everyone’s all smiles back at Soma’s camp, as she prepares to take off on a boat with Lif and her soldiers. Birna approaches you, telling Eivor that since her love for Soma is unrequited, she’ll be coming to join Eivor’s Raven Clan as a warrior. Success!
If you choose Lif or Birna as the traitor, things go very badly wrong. Coming back to the camp with Soma, you’ll find Galinn holding the remaining captain hostage, with a band of elite British forces bearing down on you. Galinn critically injures the remaining captain, and Eivor and Soma will be forced to face off against Galinn in a boss arena, while British soldiers rain down arrows on you from all sides. Slay Galinn and the Brits with Soma’s help, and the Danish leader will be upset with how everything transpired. She won’t be angry at Eivor for making an incorrect accusation, but she will depart in low spirits.
