Dust off your boxing gloves and put on your trunks because the Fight Night event is almost live. Another cosmetic-focused event in Apex Legends, players can both earn and purchase exclusive items during its duration. Similar to previous cosmetic events, Fight Night includes a new heirloom for everyone’s favorite gentle giant, Gibraltar. This weapon was referenced in the most recent Apex Legends digital comic and was gifted to him to by his ex-boyfriend Nik. Embracing Gibraltar’s heritage, this heirloom is clearly a futuristic-variant of a Maui war club which typically used shark teeth on one side. Given the sheer popularity of Gibraltar as a legend, it should be no surprise that he’s the next choice.
How to Get Gibraltar’s Heirloom
Unfortunately, there are still only two ways to earn heirlooms in Apex Legends. The first is during the Fight Night event, which requires you to purchase every cosmetic item in the event tab via the Fight Night Event Packs. Each pack guarantees you only one cosmetic from the event, however, you will never receive a duplicate. This means you will need to purchase a total of 24 loot boxes to unlock Gibraltar’s heirloom. You can only buy Event Packs in either groups of 10 for 7,000 Apex Coins or individually for 700 Apex Coins each.
Breaking down the numbers, you would need to purchase $160 USD in Apex Coins just to have enough to buy all of the Event Packs. This, of course, assumes you bought two sets of ten and then the last four by themselves for 700 Coins each. So unless you have a lot of money saved up, don’t expect to earn this item any time soon. Keep in mind, this cannot be earned any other way during the event. If you cannot afford all of these loot boxes then you’re going to have to go with the second option.
This method far more of a grind, but certainly possible if you haven’t earned an heirloom yet. After opening 500 Apex Packs you will earn 150 Heirloom Shards which can be spent unlocking one heirloom of your choice. There’s no way to track how many Apex Packs you’ve opened and you can get shards before hitting the 500 Apex Pack mark. This is just extremely rare and unreliable. After you earn your Heirloom Shards, you can purchase Gibraltar’s heirloom after the Fight Night event has concluded. Just go to the Store tab and select the Heirlooms tab in the middle to reveal all the heirlooms you can purchase with these shards. Again, this heirloom will only appear once the event has concluded, so if you earn some during the event just save them.
Remember, heirlooms have no impact or advantages in the game itself. So if you cannot afford one don’t worry, as these are just extravagant cosmetic options. They do not affect the gameplay in any way outside of having a unique melee and idle animation. So unless you are a hardcore Apex Legends player, there’s really no reason to drop $160 USD for this item. It’s simply not worth that amount of money.
