Outlast 2 may not release till 2017, but we’ve had a heck of a time playing through the demo version at PAX East earlier this year. Now you too can get a hands-on with this first-person horror game inspired by found footage movies like Grave Encounters and Paranormal Activity, as the demo is now live on PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam.
Where the first Outlast went the traditional (if overplayed) haunted mental hospital route, Outlast 2 goes full Children of the Corn on us, with all the frightening preachers, burning crosses, and questionable understanding of Satanism therein. It will be interesting to see how the game stacks up against Resident Evil VII, which is also embracing a first-person perspective (and VR support).
While short (the whole download is about 8GB), Outlast 2‘s demo does offer a nice preview of what we can expect when the game releases next year. Be sure to check out reviews editor Danielle’s impressions from PAX as well!
Outlast 2 is expected to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Mac OS when it releases in 2017.
