In Warframe‘s new Heart of Deimos update, you’ll work with the Entrati family to fight the Infestation that’s taken over the moon of Mars. The family is a Syndicate like many other organizations in the game, requiring you to build standing and commit resources to gaining trust. The very first rank up requires 5,000 standing and three Spinal Cores, but how do you get those? Well, it’s a little complicated.
Spinal Cores in Heart of Deimos are primarily found by catching and cutting open a fish called Vitreospina. You can find these rare fish in the caves dotting the landscape. Enter one such cave, stand on the viscous water-like substance called exocrine, and toss out some bait. You’ll want to use Fass Residue, which you should have simply from completing the Deimos story missions. You’re looking for a long, bony fish — and remember that fish on Deimos spawn above the water.

There’s a problem, though: fish cutting is currently bugged in Warframe, meaning you can cut open a dozen of these little critters and not get one of the Spinal Cores you need. Until there’s a hotfix, we recommend holding off on cutting your fish. Thankfully, there are other ways to get Spinal Cores and increase your rank with the Entrati.
You have a couple of options here. First, you can hunt around the open world of Deimos and pop cysts like a deranged dermatologist. These containers will sometimes drop fish parts, including the Spinal Cores you need to level up.
Alternately, you can look for Deimos bounties from Mother. These missions will sometimes reward Spinal Cores on completion, though it’s not a sure thing. It’s nice to have options, though.
