After much anticipation, The Last of Us Part 2 has arrived so it’s time to dive into this harrowing post-apocalyptic world. While it’s possible to beat this game without spending a lot of time scavenging, we strongly recommend you hunt for the different safes scattered throughout the different parts of Seattle. These not only typically contain useful crafting materials and ammo, but key items that can make your journey much easier. One of the safes you won’t want to skip is on the ferry near the aquarium.

How to Unlock the Ferry Safe
When you arrive in this location, start exploring the lower decks until Abby discovers and unlocks the crossbow. Once you have this weapon, use it to silently dispatch the two Runners that are chilling at the end of the hall. Keep in mind, you cannot recover crossbow arrows, so if you are going to use it make sure you hit them! Otherwise, you’re better off just sneaking up behind them for a cheeky stealth kill. Once the enemies are clear do not head upstairs, instead, go to the end of the hall and inspect the note on the cot. This note will tell you that the safe code for the ferry safe is 90 – 77 – 01.
After your done, turn around and start making your way through the ship until you reach the deck. There are a lot of infected on this boat, so take your time and focus on stealth killing as many enemies as possible. The crossbow is remarkably good for slaying Runners, but we still recommend just stealth killing Clickers. It’s generally safer and will always guarantee an insta-kill.
Now ascend the stairs, make your way to the top deck, turn to your left, and go into the control booth to find the safe. Inside will be some supplies along with the Ordinance upgrade book for Abby. This book includes things such as faster craft and more durable melee weapons. Even though you won’t get a ton of use out of it since there are only a few areas left in Abby’s potion, this book is superb if you plan to replay the game on New Game Plus.
Once you pick up the book, you will need to fight through another horde of infected walking along the top of the ship. At the very end is a Shambler, so focus on taking out the Clickers and Runners first, since it’s impossible to stealth kill this type of enemy. Trying to fight all these infected at once, even on easier difficulties, can be incredibly taxing to your resources. Instead, just be patient and silently kill each one until the Shambler is left. To take out the Shambler, I recommend using a combination of the Hunting Pistol and Trip Mine to quickly dispatch it before the infected can get close.
This will be the last upgrade book in The Last of Us Part 2, so don’t worry about missing any others during the rest of your adventure as Abby!
