At launch, Planet Zoo includes a total of 74 animals for you to nurture, three of which are only included in the deluxe edition of the game (these being the komodo dragon, pygmy hippo, and Thomson’s gazelle). Each animal hails from different climate biomes, meaning they have preferences for different plants and food. In this guide, we’ve organized all the animals in Planet Zoo by name and run down some important elements, like the food they eat and what enrichment items to pop into their habitat in order to maximize their happiness. We’ve also included their home continents and biomes so that it’s easier to filter the proper plant life to add to their habitats.
A lot of this information comes from the in-game Zoopedia, but some is hidden behind various levels of vet research. This guide isn’t exhaustive, but it’s meant to supplement your Planet Zoo play, giving you access to some basic animal information without having to constantly open up the Zoopedia. A quick note: smaller animals that live in an exhibit have most of their needs met by a keeper, and all of their enrichment items are different types of hiding places, so we’ve not included their food or enrichment needs here.
