Gauss Abilities: Warframe Guide
Gauss is a speed-based Warframe that relies on constantly moving. What’s interesting is that Warframe already has several characters built for speed. Nezha can literally light their feet on fire to cook past foes. Volt gets a power boost the more that he sprints, and can even speed up allies around him. Nova, while not inherently speedy, can open up portals through space — letting entire teams warp around the world. Gauss might have a hard time standing out from the pack when he’s up against such fierce competition.
Here’s a full list of Gauss abilities in Warframe:
- MACH RUSH: Burst into a hyper-sprint to run across water, traverse across large areas faster, bowl over enemies and re-charge his Speed Gauge. Crashing into solid objects generates a powerful shockwave.
- KINETIC PLATING: Generate armor plating that converts a portion of absorbed Kinetic Damage into Energy. Also protects Gauss from being staggered or knocked down. Damage Resistance is relative to battery level.
- THERMAL SUNDER: Siphon kinetic energy from the area, charging the battery and inflicting Cold Status on nearby enemies. Press and hold to reverse the process, draining the battery and inflicting Heat Status on nearby enemies.
- REDLINE: Push Gauss‘ battery beyond the redline, supercharging his Abilities and setting Fire Rate, Attack Speed, Reload Speed, and Holster Rate into overdrive. When past the redline, bolts of arcing electricity dance periodically from Gauss, exploding en masse when the ability is deactivated.
- PASSIVE: Never stop moving. Keeping Gauss in motion generates an electrical current that charges his Speed Gauge, helping Shields recharge up to 80 percent faster, and decreasing recharge delay up to 80 percent.
Gauss also comes with a unique meter: his battery. This gauge builds up and expends itself depending on what ability Gauss is using. During Redline, this gauge can exceed its usual maximum limit for a time.
How to Unlock Gauss: Warframe Guide
Much as we expected before the Warframe was released, you can acquire Gauss blueprints from a Disruption mission. You can find the parts on the Grineer Galleon – Sedna, Kelpie. The enemies there are Grineer, so kit yourself out accordingly. Crafting the Gauss Warframe also requires several open-world materials (gems and flora). So get ready for a potential grind.
And Gauss is available right now! He was included in the “Saint of Altra” update. Said update also brought a bunch of new Disruption mission locations. We’ll let you know if we find any other places to farm Gauss blueprints as well, too.
Gauss Farm in Warframe
Gauss parts appear to have a 10 percent drop chance from Rotation C on Disruption missions that occur on Sedna. Currently, that’s only one mission: the Grineer Galleon on Kelpie. But that could change in the future! For now, though, buckle in to repeat the same mission quite a few times.
Disruption, if you’re not familiar, works a lot like a mix of Mobile Defense and Excavation. You hack a terminal to begin each wave — which spawns endless groups of unique enemies called Amalgams. You must hack four terminals, while fending off Amalgams and destroying special enemies called Demolysts, to complete a full wave.
At least one terminal must survive each onslaught. That’s easier said than done, since hacking terminals also can randomly buff or debuff the players, or strengthen the enemies. The Demolysts will also walk to each terminal and try to destroy them by self-destructing. Destroying them first will successfully defend the terminal. Failing to do so before the self-destruct triggers will count as a failure for that terminal.
Disruption does not use the same reward rules as traditional endless modes in Warframe. That means you are not guaranteed a Rotation C drop after completing a certain number of waves. Instead, you must defend all four terminals on the third wave to receive one (and have a chance at a Gauss blueprint). From wave four onward, you only need to defend successfully defend three terminals each time.

Gauss isn’t complicated. Though he is fairly versatile. Mach Rush and Redline give him solid maneuverability, while Kinetic Plating and Thermal Sunder are good for holding down areas. Gauss is admittedly pretty selfish: unlike a lot of modern frames, he provides basically zero support to his teammates. He’s just a more-than-solid damage-dealer with survivability to boot. That makes him pretty good on simple, solo runs or when paired with a hard support.
