Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 has launched earlier, so it’s time to remind all your abandoned villagers that you are still alive. Along with the Happy Home Paradise DLC, which launches later today, the free update introduces a wealth of new features and items for you to customize your island with. While there are a number of new things you can do, one of the best is being able to switch to a pseudo first-person mode. Yes, it’s not a “true” first-person mode, but this feature allows you to get a closer look at your island, decorations, and residence.
Here’s how this works and what you need to do to obtain it:
How to Get the Pro Camera App
In order to view your island in first-person, you will need to purchase the Pro Camera App. This is done in the Town Hall’s Nook Miles machine. When you enter, go to the ATM in the bottom right corner and select “Redeem Nook Miles.” From here, a big list of items will be pulled up, so scroll down until you see one labeled the Pro Camera App. This will cost 1,500 Nook Miles, which honestly isn’t a lot. Buy the application.
Once you have the application, your villager will put their phone onto the machine to upgrade it. When this is over, all you need to do is pull up your phone with the Left Trigger and then select the Pro Camera application in the top right corner. Doing so will open up the photo mode where you can toggle a variety of features to capture the perfect image. Hitting the – button will thrust you into first-person mode and let you walk around while looking through the eyes of your villager. The catch is you can’t really do much in this mode; you can’t even turn your villager in a different direction. All you can do is walk side to side or move forward, which isn’t that exciting.
However, if you’re looking to get a closer view of your villagers or maybe just hide your own character in a photo, this is the ideal method. Keep in mind: your villager will always face north, even if you open the camera when looking in a different direction. So don’t expect to get to really see your island or decorations from a different angle.
For those needing Nook Miles, I recommend trying to complete some of your Nook Miles+ challenges. These can be accessed via your phone’s Nook Miles app and then by pressing the + button. You will see a bunch of challenges that are all remarkably simple, like chopping down trees, catching fish, or just talking to your villagers. Remember: you only need 1,500 Nook Miles for the application. You can get additional Nook Miles by logging into the Nook Miles machine every day, which gives an ever-increasing reward of up to 300 Nook Miles.
With all that in mind, unless you really plan to get fancy with your photos, I recommend just saving your points for some of the new decorations and items available in the Nook Miles store.
