It’s time for farm the light itself! This guide will cover the Nexus Zodiac Weapons, the sixth upgrade of the weapons introduced in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The journey has several phases, each offering a new version of the weapon, ending at the Zeta form. None of these weapons are best-in-slot anymore, so you’re purely doing this for your own satisfaction.

How to Unlock Your Nexus Relic Weapon
Alrighty, it’s time to head back to Jalzahn at Hyrstmill in North Shroud (X: 29.5, Y: 19.6)! Have your Novus Weapon equipped and Jalzahn will offer you the quest “Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics,” where you’ll craft an item called the Zodiac Glass. Once this is done, you’ll need to choose which weapon you want to Soulglaze. Talk to Jalzahn with the weapons in your inventory and select “Relic Weapon Novus Soulglazing” in order to begin the process. (Paladins, you have to soulglaze the Curtana Novus and Holy Shield Novus here.)
This is what’s known as the “light farming” phase of the Relic Weapon. With the soulglazed Novus weapon equipped, you need to do any A Realm Reborn dungeon, trial, FATE, or Treasure Hunt. Each activity offers different light levels.
- Feeble: 8 points
- Gentle: 16 points
- Bright: 32 points
- Brilliant: 48 points
- Blinding: 96 points
- Newborn Star: 128 points
You’ll see the light type in your chat log. You need a total of 2,000 light points to upgrade the Relic Weapon. How do you know how many points you have? The quest will give you an item called the Zodiac Glass. This will be in your standard inventory. Use this item and you’ll get a message indicating which Light Tier you’re on. The tiers are as follows:
- No Activity: 0-199
- Indistinct Activity: 200-399
- Faint Activity: 400-599
- Slight Activity: 600-799
- Modest Activity: 800-999
- Distinct Activity: 1000-1199
- Robust Activity: 1200-1399
- Vigorous Activity: 1400-1599
- Intense Activity: 1600-1799
- Extreme Activity: 1800-1999
- Bursting Activity: 2000+
Here’s a rough list of activities and the light levels they’ll give you. We’re only concerned with those offering Bright and above.
- Bright: Dungeons, Extreme Trials, Coil of Bahamut 1/2/5, Second Coil of Bahamut, Final Coil of Bahamut
- Brilliant: Dungeons, Labyrinth of the Ancients, Syrcus Tower, World of Darkness
Your best bet is to run Aurum Vale, Tam Tara Deepcroft, or Satasha unsynced. These dungeons are relatively fast, and a high-level character can blow right through them. It’s repetitive but quick. Once you’ve reached the correct light tier, head back to Jalzahn to get your new Nexus Relic Weapon.
