The Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes event returns this summer before the arrival of Shadowkeep. It’s the Season of Opulence which pretty much perfectly aligns with what we’ve come to expect. Thus far, the Solstice of Heroes has featured some of the most lavish armor so far. This time around will be no exception with elemental themed flair via the ornament system.

There’s now been a trailer released for the Solstice of Heroes, which shows the start date of the event as July 30 and the end date as August 27. The flashy footage shows off new rewards, promises of powerful elemental buffs, nifty Sparrows, emotes, and some of the most lavish Solstice armor to date
Eva Levante will offer a Solstice Key Fragment Magnet (more on that later) upon the successful completion of some quests to help you pick up those Solstice Key Fragments. These key fragments are important because you’re going to need them to open Solstice Packages which you get from completing EAZ events. It’s unsure at the moment how many key fragments are needed to open one Package, but the presence of the Magnet as a consumable suggests that this could end up being quite the grind.
Solstice of Heroes — Voice Quests
There’s a chain of quests involving Guardians having a bit of a chat. While there’s no exact information about the steps for these quests yet, the names of the five separate quests all combine to make a sentence:
- From the Ashes
- A New Flame
- Kindles to Life
- And Lights the Way
- Into the Future
Veteran Guardians might recognize this sentence from the Grimoire card, Ghost Fragment: Moon. Once you complete the last quest — Into the Future — speak to Eva Levante and she’ll reward you with a Fragment Magnet which can be consumed to attract Solstice Key Fragments for powering up your armor, obtaining Enhancement Cores, and Materials.
Solstice of Heroes — The European Aerial Zone
The European Aerial Zone is going to feature heavily this Solstice. It’s described as a giant floating island in the sky, where you’ll be able to undertake combat drills and also meditate to power up your Drained Solstice Armor. From what we’ve seen of the EAZ so far, it’s going to be home to group matchmaking events throughout the course of the Solstice.
The EAZ has 7 distinctly different zones:
- Courtyard
- Factory
- Garage
- Mall
- Meditation Grounds
- Ruin
- Town
Remember those elemental buffs mentioned in the Solstice of Heroes trailer? The EAZ is where they’ll come into play. There’ll be a different daily buff that will be picked at random out of rotation of three:
- Solar Energy: this fills the air with the smell of sunbaked earth, and will let you use your Solar subclass and weapons to generate collectible Solar orbs to become Solar Empowered. Being Solar Empowered will make you emit scorching energy.
- Arc Energy: this fills the air with the smell of ozone, and will let you use your Arc subclass and weapons to generate collectible Arc orbs to become Arc Empowered. Being Arc Empowered will make you emit electric energy.
- Void Energy: this fills the air with the smell of potential, and will let you use your Void subclass and weapons to generate collectible Void orbs to become Void Empowered. Being Void Empowered will make you emit searing energy.
While we’re not quite sure what the smell of potential is, all elemental variants seem equally deadly. Guardians are going to need all the firepower they can get, especially if the datamined event strings are anything to go by; it looks like one such event variation could be a solo Gambit match with waves of Cabal bosses and reinforcements (either Cabal Engineers or Cabal Mosquitos) to kill within a time limit.
Solstice of Heroes — Elemental Bounties
The cool elemental buffs from the EAZ have corresponding bounties, and some can only be completed when you’re benefiting from that buff in particular. You’re going to have to run the full gamut of the elements in the EAZ and beyond in order to get these under your belt.

Solstice of Heroes — Upgrading the Drained Armor Set
The Drained Armor set is what you get from Eva Levante after completing the initial Solstice questline. Luckily for you, this set gets upgraded throughout the event, and we’ll show you how to do it. The method differs for each class, so make sure that you’re doing the right thing to power up that armor of yours in time for the festivities.
1. The Solstice Begins – Speak to Eva
