Reaching the ending of Sifu for the first time reveals a mysterious alternative to your path of vengeance. With only a subtle hint about your next objective, it can be confusing to parse through. But in essence, you’ll have to face all bosses one more time. This guide explains how to spare bosses to reach the Sifu true ending.

How to Spare Bosses – Sifu True Ending

Yes, I know you’ve just gone through the problem of defeating all bosses, but it will be slightly different for the Sifu true ending.

If you’re wondering how to spare bosses in Sifu, the steps are as follows:

Get to the final boss of each stage
Complete the first phase of the fight as usual by performing a takedown
During the second phase, damage the boss’ structure until you get the opportunity for a takedown
Don’t perform the takedown — instead, wait for a brief moment until the boss recomposes themselves
You will hear a distinct dialogue line when doing this
Then, parry all attacks and don’t do any damage
When the takedown prompt appears again, you’ll see the option to Spare pressing the left D-Pad

Sifu True Ending 4 — Avoid doing a takedown by reflex and instead press left on the D-Pad to spare the boss.

In case you’re curious, parrying is your go-to as the key is to break the boss’ structure. You can get away with a few attacks, but if you damage them enough, you will automatically trigger the takedown and lose the opportunity to spare them. This happened to me several times and the only way around it was to just parry and retract from attacking.

You need to do this with all five bosses of the game to reach the Sifu true ending. Now, keep in mind that while defeating Yang for the first time will reset the protagonist back to age 20, the saved age of each stage remains as usual. If you’ve gotten to, say, The Club with age 22, that will still be present, so it’s not a hard reset for any means. In case it’s worth noting, all your unlocked shortcuts are still present of course.

Moreover, you will notice that sparing a boss will give you a different cutscene, but this isn’t apparent until a few seconds in. Don’t ragequit thinking that you’ve somehow did it wrong — as long as you pressed the left D-Pad instead of doing a takedown, you’ll be fine.

Sifu True Ending 8

After you’ve spared The Botanist, The Fighter, The Artist, and The CEO, head over The Sanctuary to confront Yang again. Once you enter the building where he’s in, you’ll notice four words appearing on the walls, each representing one of the bosses. If you’ve somehow missed any, this will server as proof of that.

Now, Yang is a little different. Repeat the outlined process until the second phase, ignore the takedown, and he will mention something about it. Then, once prompted, go ahead and spare him. This will get you into a different cutscene, followed up by a third phase.

Yang is already tough as is, but don’t worry, you can’t die during Yang’s third phase in Sifu. Take as long as necessary to deplete his structure one more time. Once you do, perform the takedown. This is how you reach the Sifu true ending.

All that is left is to take part in a rather short final sequence this will give the protagonist’s story a closure, and get you actual end credits. If you’re wondering, yes, there is an actual post-credits scene, so keep an eye out for that.
