Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost — The Hocus Focusing Guide

Festival of the Lost introduces a new way to get specific loot through "Hocus Focusing."

Festival of the Lost is upon us and with that, Destiny 2 introduces a new avenue for focusing loot called “Hocus Focusing”. In a This Week In Destiny blog post, Bungie announced that players will be able to focus Exotic armor and Festival of the Lost weapons at Eva Levante.

To focus, players will need Eerie Engrams, a new type of Engram exclusive to Festival of the Lost. Here’s a guide on how Hocus Focusing works and what it would cost to focus loot at Eva Levante.

How Hocus Focusing Works

Hocus Focusing allows players to focus Exotic armor and Festival of the Lost weapons by using Candy, the festival-specific currency, and Eerie Engrams. Eerie Engrams have a chance of dropping from Haunted Lost Sectors with Legend Haunted Sectors having a higher chance to drop Eerie Engrams. Each Eerie Engram that drops will have a category associated with it, meaning players can get Eerie Engrams specific to Legendary weapons, Exotic helmet, Exotic arms, Exotic chest and Exotic legs.

Hocus Focusing Costs

Players can use Eerie Engrams to focus random Exotic helmets, arms, chests and legs. Players can also focus random Festival of the Lost weapons, but the option to focus specific weapons is also available, albeit at a higher candy cost.

  • Exotic helmet, arms, chest, legs
    • 1 Eerie Engram
    • 2500 Candy
  • Randomized Festival of the Lost weapon
    • 1 Eerie Engram
    • 500 Candy
  • Specific Festival of the Lost weapon
    • 1 Eerie Engram
    • 1000 Candy

Hocus Focusing Loot

Hocus Focusing will allow players to focus the following:

  • Exotic helmet, arms, chest, and legs
  • Legendary weapons, including the following Festival of the Lost weapons
    • Heavy Acosmic grenade launcher
    • Primary Horror Story auto rifle
    • Energy Jurassic Green pulse rifle
    • Energy Mechabre sniper rifle

When it comes to Exotic armor, players can focus every Exotic armor that predates the Lightfall expansion in Destiny 2. Bungie has stated some caveats when it comes to focusing Exotic armor. Players will need to own the expansion tied with each Exotic in order for it to drop from Hocus Focusing. So, if players want a specific armor piece, be sure to check the comprehensive list of every Exotic armor piece that players can focus, and the expansion tied to it. This means that players can earn all Exotic armor pieces they have been missing through Hocus Focusing, but keep in mind, focusing only lets players get Exotic armor pieces for their character class.
