Jomsviking were an elite band of mercenary vikings, and they actually function as a link between players in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You can recruit, customize, and deploy your own Jomsviking, which can then be recruited by other Valhalla players. It’s a lot easier than it sounds, but there’s definitely a random element involved in finding and tracking down the Jomsviking of other players.

How to Create Your Jomsviking – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jomsviking
Back in your Settlement in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll have the option to build a Barracks. This feature costs 200 supplies and 30 raw materials and thankfully it’s available from the beginning of the game, without you needing to upgrade your settlement rank to unlock it.
Constructing the barracks in your settlement opens up a quartermaster, who you can then find out the front of the building. Talk to them, and you’ll have the option to create your very own Jomsviking, customizing their gender and equipment. Note that you can’t change your Jomsviking’s gender after you’ve finalized the creation process, so you’ll need to stick with the male or female warrior that you create here.
Otherwise, you can customize the weapons and equipment of your Jomsviking before deploying them into the world. When customizing your warrior, you can kit them out with all the gear that your Eivor is currently carrying. Eivor and the Jomsviking share a gear pool, so don’t worry about the Jomsviking heading off with Eivor’s prized armor or weapon. Finish customizing your Jomsviking, and you can send them out into the world, like a parent seeing their child off to school. Well, if school was a viking murder academy.
How to Recruit Other Jomsviking – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jomsviking
After this, other players can find and recruit your Jomsviking, just as you can in turn recruit their creations. However, there’s only one set location in which the Jomsviking of another player can appear. Occasionally, a player’s Jomsviking will appear beside your Barracks, giving you the opportunity to add them to your Raiding parties for 100 Silver.
The same goes for when you find Jomsviking elsewhere in England. You can identify a Jomsviking by the circular icon displayed above their head, which sort of resembles a “9.” Approach the Jomsviking, and you can recruit them for 100 Silver.
Your Jomsviking can actually earn you payouts as they help other players. There’s no way to keep track of your Jomsviking, but if you speak to your quartermaster, they’ll let you know if yours has been recruited by another player. When this happens, you’ll get paid the 100 Silver that the player used to recruit your Jomsviking.
How to Edit Your Crew – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Jomsviking
If you want to add a recruited Jomsviking to your Raiding parties, or just customize the vikings that you take out into battle with you, approach the quartermaster. Select the “I want to manage my crew” option, and you’ll be taken to the Barracks screen.
Here, you can select the six viking warriors that you take into battle with you. Highlight a potential candidate to be replaced, and you can switch them out for another warrior. At the bottom of this page, you can find a complete list of all the Jomsviking that you’ve recruited, and you can add them to your party to join in your raiding. Jomsviking are a whacky bit of fun, adding another layer of player cooperation to Valhalla.
