With tomorrow's Farm Friends update coming to LEGO Fortnite, you'll soon be able to tame animals and keep them as part of your farm! The system is relatively simple, but there are some key things to know which we'll touch on in this guide!
How to Tame Animals
Taming animals is straightforward. First you need to build an animal house for them. This new station is only available at Village Level 2 and houses exactly one animal. If you want to tame and house more, you'll need to build additional animal houses.
After that, you need to craft some animal treats which are unlocked once you build the aforementioned animal house. These help you gain the trust of wild animals after you've pet them enough times.
Once you've done that, the clock starts ticking. There's only so much time the animal will trust and follow you before it goes back to roaming the wilds. Epic suggests a variety of methods of luring the animals back to your farm, whether it be putting them into a car, using a fishing rod to pull them, or building bridges to get across rivers.
Following the journey home, simply interact with the animal house and they'll be assigned a home (and given a name by you)! However, your work isn't over. Animals require care, and if not tended to regularly, they may leave your farm. To ensure your animals remain content, consider assigning a villager to look after them.
Should the unfortunate happen, and your new livestock get injured, you can heal them with another animal treat.
What Animals Can Be Tamed?
At this time, you can only recruit cows, chickens, sheep, and pigs.
What Are the Benefits of Taming Animals?
Aside from having them spruce up your village, each animal also periodically produces materials.
- Chickens: Feathers and Fertilizer
- Cows: Milk and Fertilizer
- Sheep: Wool and Fertilizer
- Pigs: Mushrooms and Fertilizer
Are There Animal Variants?
There are! Brown and tan chickens spawn in dry valleys and yellow chickens spawn in grasslands. Cows also have different patterns and colors to help differentiate them.
How Many Animals Can a Village Have?
Epic Games has made some changes to village capacity. Before you could only have five villagers per village. The new limits are as such:
- 3 slots exclusive to villagers.
- 3 slots exclusive to animals.
- 4 slots to be filled by villagers or animals.
So if you don't mind having fewer villagers, your farm could potentially have up to 7 animals currently.
That's everything we know about the animal taming system in LEGO Fortnite right now. Once the update goes live tomorrow, we'll make sure to update this post with the latest details!
