How to Cure Fortnite Storm Sickness
Before we dive into the full explanation of how Storm Sickness work, it’s likely that you might get the condition rather sooner than later.
If you’re wondering how to cure Storm Sickness in Fortnite, you have to exit the storm. The sickness won’t stay with you as long as you stay outside. Re-entering the storm, however, immediately gets you the condition back, so be careful.

How Storm Sickness in Fortnite Works
In case escaping from the storm wasn’t bad enough, Storm Sickness accelerates the speed in which you lose health while inside a storm circle.
Until now, being trapped outside a circle meant that you’d lose 1 HP gradually and at a steady pace. If you were lucky enough to heal yourself or find a vehicle or a launchpad to move around and escape the storm, it usually meant you could make it out safe and sound. Now, if you say long enough inside a storm, you’re going to develop Storm Sickness. This feature accelerates the storm’s damage to your health — it doesn’t increase the damage itself, but you’re going to have less time to escape it.
Thankfully, catching the Fortnite Storm Sickness isn’t random, and the game lets you know whenever you’re close. This means that you might get out of the storm just in time before it happens, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind.
As I explained above, it’s possible to cure the condition by exiting the storm. But as long as you’re inside it, it’s going to cost quite a bit of your health at a rapid pace. It’s an interesting mechanic, and one that I wonder if developer Epic is going to have to tweak in some ways, as it can significantly change the rhythm of matches. Whereas sometimes you would usually be able to make it to the other side even by a scratch, having a vehicle around is going to be essential, and it’s going to be tougher to justify staying around areas in search of loot when the storm is approaching.
We’ll see how it goes throughout Chapter 3 Season 3, but this addition, in case it remains permanent for future seasons, it’s quite a significant one that stands on its own aside from just seasonal features. Good thing that we got both mantling and the ability to slide in Chapter 3 — otherwise, things would be dire.
