At Final Fantasy XIV’s Fan Fest in Tokyo, the new Female Hrothgar race was revealed, alongside the NPC Wuk Lamat. Wuk Lamat was revealed to be the main NPC protagonist of the Dawntrail expansion, and owner of the mysterious set of legs we saw at the end of patch 6.5’s MSQ.
In interviews with Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, the game director and producer of FFXIV expressed hope that players would relate to and embrace Wuk Lamat. Luckily, any concerns about players not immediately embracing the character seem ill-founded, as fans have taken to making fan art, Reddit threads, and posts on social media about FFXIV’s new furry female.
Fan art-wise, there’s already a plethora of images cropping up on Reddit, mostly recreations of Wuk Lamat from the Dawntrail trailer. On the fringe side of things, the jaded part of FFXIV Reddit, ShitpostFFXIV, has embraced the more degenerate part of the fandom, with a post entitled “You could grind meat on that” simply showing an image of Wuk Lamat’s stomach.
On Twitter/X players have been reposting and enjoying the latest screenshot of Wuk Lamat from the 6.55 Patch. While some are just obsessing over her appearance, others couldn’t help but find similarities between the screenshot and famous meme pictures.
Twitter was also the platform that revealed the spelling of Wuk Lamat’s name, as per a post by voice actor Sena Bryer. The VA gave details about her role as the voice of Wuk Lamat before later deleting the post. It’s speculated that the post may have jumped the gun slightly on the reveal, as it came ahead of Wuk Lamat’s in-game reveal on Jan. 16.
Overall, there are hundreds of comments and thousands of replies across social media about Wuk Lamat, causing her to briefly trend on Twitter this past week. As mentioned, the Hrothgar female NPC makes her debut in the Patch 6.55 main story quest, releasing next week. Expect players to only get more obsessed as the character appears in-game.
