Unlike PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or just about any other subscription service out there, Epic Games is giving away games for free — period. There’s no purchase required; no subscription necessary. Every week, Epic just gives away at least one game for free.

This is in large part due to the fact that Epic is the newcomer on the scene and likely looking to draw users away from other platforms: like Steam, GOG, and Origin. Enjoy it while it lasts because there’s no telling when Epic will decide to end or modify this platform perk!

Here are the free Epic Games Store titles for December 2021, as well as a history of what’s been available so far since the feature launched. That way you don’t find yourself waiting for a game to be free when it’s already out of the rotation!

Game Availability

Epic offers a free game (or two) every two weeks via the Epic Games Store. You do not need to install them to keep them forever. All you need to do is complete the “purchase” process. Although no transaction is charged to your account.

December 2021 Games

When is 15 Days of Free Games?

Every December, at least for the past two years, Epic gives away games at a greater frequency. For a week or two the company ups the cadence from one or two free games a week to one free game per day and things have already kicked off for 2021!

Among last year’s highlights was Darkest Dungeon, My Time in Portia, and Jurassic World: Evolution. 2019’s titles included Celeste, Hyper Light Drifter, and Into the Breach.

And oldie, but a goody is available in World of Goo. Later this month, Nocode’s Stories Untold will hit the store for free ahead of the upcoming Observation release.

In addition, as part of the Epic Mega Sale, the platform is upgrading its frequency of free games. During the four week long promotion, three more games will be free alongside May’s Stories Untold and whatever launched in June. Rime is the first game that will be available for a week long promotional period.
