Every hero needs a great tool and in Final Fantasy XIV, when it comes to mastering crafting and gathering, players can look to the Splendorous Tools. These are only accessible to those who have reached the maximum level with their crafting and gathering jobs and are looking for a new challenge.

The Splendorous Tools are the equivalent of relic weapons for the Disciple of the Land and Hand classes. As such, while acquiring them is not complicated, enhancing them is a long and arduous task.

How to unlock the Splendorous Tools in FFXIV

In order to unlock the Splendorous Tools, players need to complete the quest "An Original Improvement". To do so, they must have at least one level 90 Disciple of the Hand or Land class, completed "The Crystalline Mean", and the "Endwalker" quests.

Once these prerequisites have been fulfilled, players can go to The Crystarium at X: 7.8 Y: 11.4, where they will find Chora-Zoi, the NPC from which they can get the "An Original Improvement" quest.

As a reward for completing the quest, players earn the Splendorous Coffer, which, when opened, gives them the Splendorous Tool for the Disciple of the Hand or Land class they are using. Players can still acquire the Splendorous Tools for the other classes with Quinnana at X: 10.4 Y: 7.8 in The Crystarium. Each tool costs 1500 White Scripts.

Since the Splendorous Tools are part of the end-game content for gathering and crafting classes, the rotations needed for each job are different.

How to upgrade the crafting jobs' Splendorous Tools in FFXIV

After acquiring their first Splendorous Tool, players can choose to further improve their tools by completing specific quests given by Chora-Zoi in The Crystarium at X: 10.5 Y: 7.8. When upgraded, the tool gains better stats as well as a higher item level. Keep in mind that the quests must be completed once for each tool players have.

In each quest, players have the goal of delivering a certain number of materials that can be acquired by exchanging crafted items. The quantity of materials players receive depends on the collectability of the items they crafted. Any items with 899 collectability or less can be exchanged for only one unit of the material, while items with 900 collectability give players three units.

No different from the other upgrades up until now, the fourth enhancement (ILVL 630) of the Splendorous Tools is completed once players deliver 90 Brillant Components to Chora-Zoi. Here is the list of items each class must craft:

How to upgrade the gathering jobs’ Splendorous Tools in FFXIV

Just like with the Splendorous Tools for crafters, the ones for the Discipline of the Land classes, once acquired, can be upgraded. To do so, players need to complete quests given by Chora-Zoi at X: 10.5 Y: 7.8 in The Crystarium.

For these quests, players must gather specific items to exchange with Quinanna for the materials requested by Chora-Zoi. The number of materials players can acquire in exchange for one of the items they collect depends on their collectability. Items collected using Miner or Botanist with a collectability value between 570-999 give players only one unit of the material. But, if the item has 1000 collectability, then players get three units of the material. For the Fisher, the collectables with 47 to 109 collectability will reward players with one unit of the material, while items with 110 or higher, give two units.

Each quest must be completed once for every class’ tool – Botanist, Miner, and Fisher. Players should take into consideration when preparing for the third and fourth upgrades that materials required to enhance the Botanist’ and Miner’s tools can also be obtained through Aetherial Reduction.

By completing this quest, players unlock the fourth upgrade (iLVL 63) for their Splendorous Tools. Players enhancing the Miner’s or Motanist’s tools need to deliver 210 Brilliant Components plus 210 Brilliant Lighting Clusters (Miner) or Brilliant Earth Clusters (Botanist). When it comes to upgrading the Fisher’s rod, players need to deliver 80 Brilliant Components. In any case, all materials should be delivered to Chora-Zoi.
