How to Get Common Items in FFXIV's Island Sanctuary

Here’s the best places to farm the common items in Island Sanctuary.

The Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV is a special area where you can entertain yourself by playing the role of a farmer, growing crops and making the creatures you have happy. The initial steps in this new life are not glorious, forcing you to explore The Wilds and collect many materials to build facilities and improve the infrastructure of your island.

To accomplish this, you need to get the common items in FFXIV’s Island Sanctuary. Looking for and collecting these materials is a routine in the early ranks before you can take advantage of everything this side content has to offer. There are rare animals to capture and lots of gil to earn using the island’s currencies. As you develop the land, you can furnish the place giving it your vibe. Before you can work on all of that, you need to complete the initial quests and craft the early tools using the common items found on the Island Sanctuary – but you can speed up the process by using methods to rank up faster

How to get common items in FFXIV’s Island Sanctuary

There are plenty of different materials on the island. You can find the ones considered as common items in a fair number of places. In this guide, we are focusing on the BranchIslewortLogPalm LogSugarcaneSand, and Squid. Listed below, you can find the best spots to farm them:

  • Island Branch: Found in some types of trees, it’s not difficult to find Island Branches as you walk over the island. There is one major concentration of nodes in the Eastward Stream area – around X: 22.6, Y: 26.3. You can find six on the south side of the stream and four on the north side. This is, by far, the best farm spot, although you can find some nodes in the north, surrounding the mountain.

  • Islewort: The number of Islewort nodes you can find on the island is extremely high since this material is present in nodes of a good variety of other materials as well, from Island Cotton Boll to Island Parsnip Seeds. For beginners, the best farming spots are on the northwest side of the island at X: 13.4 Y: 15.5 or on the east side of the island. While the last location covers a larger area, you can find 11 nodes there.

  • Island Log: When it comes to finding Island Logs, you can follow the same farm route for Island Branches in the Eastward Stream area. The concentration and proximity of nodes in this route make the process easier for you.

  • Island Palm Log: On the island, palm trees are less common than other types of trees so there aren’t as many farming spots. The best one is around Pristine Pond at X: 18.4 Y: 24.4, a great place for beginners to farm Island Palm Logs since you don’t have to walk further into the island and the nodes are pretty close to each other.

  • Island Sugarcane: There is only one spot on the island where you can consistently farm this material. North of the Northward Stream, around the X: 17.5 Y: 17.9 region, you find 11 nodes of Island Sugarcane split between both margins of the stream.

  • Island Sand: In the Island Sanctuary, most of the Sand nodes are in the Northward Stream and Eastward Stream. You can pick any of the two areas to farm Island Sand, however, because the nodes in the Eastward Stream – starting at X: 21.6 Y: 25.8 – are closer, this is the most optimal farm route.

  • Island Squid: To no one’s surprise, Island Squids are underwater. More precisely, you can find them by collecting the seaweed nodes. There are only two areas where you can dive, Pirate Bay and Coral Sands, and in both, you can find Squids. However, Coral Sands at X: 31.7 Y: 24.5 have more nodes, making it the best farm location.
