As you build up your Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV, you'll need more and more materials to keep everything going. Ranking up your island can cost a lot of materials, so knowing where to go to stock up on the essentials is vital.
After you unlock your island, you'll soon need to upgrade your facilities. One of the common materials used in this process is Island Clay. This material is used in many facility upgrade projects, several recipes for the Mammet-sized tools needed to expand your island, your own tools, and a handful of handicrafts. Knowing where to get Island Clay is a must if you plan to profit from your Island Sanctuary.
How to Get Island Clay in FFXIV's Island Sanctuary
You can find Island Clay by enabling the "Gathering" mode, which allows you to interact with various nodes on your island to collect materials. Mounds of Dirt are the nodes to look for on your hunt for Island Clay, but you'll need access to the Islekeep's Shovel for the node to give you the material you want.

The best locations to farm Mounds of Dirt are:
Eastward Stream: The largest grouping of Mound of Dirt nodes is right alongside the Eastward Stream (X: 22.6, Y: 25.8). Seven nodes are packed tightly together, with an eighth slightly further down the river. There are many other nodes very close to the initial seven, so it is very quick and easy to respawn your targeted Mounds of Dirt.

Four Mounds of Dirt are sprinkled into the many gatherable nodes available here, making this a good option if you're looking to grab more than just Island Clay.
