How to Farm in Enshrouded

It's harvesting time!

Farming your crops is a combination of exploration, crafting, and a lot of patience. Don't worry, once harvesting time arrives it will all be worth it. Here is how to farm in Enshrouded.

Enshrouded: How to farm

Farming in Enshrouded - the activity of planting seeds - is a great way to make your survival efforts self-sustainable. There are many things you can plant and harvest in the game, but you won't be able to until you unlock the Farmer. She is unlocked by natural progression after completing the "Growing Stronger Together" quest. Once you summon her in your base, you will be able to begin your farming efforts.

The first thing you need to craft is some Farm Soil. All Seedlings can be planted almost anywhere in the ground, but if you plant them in Farm Soil, they will grow faster. You will need 7x Dirt and 3x Bonemeal. Use your pickaxe and hit the ground to get Dirt and then process Bones in the Grinding Stones structure (Alchemist).

The Seedbed is the other vital structure you will need to build if you want to farm. You will need 10x Wood Logs, 2x Metal Scraps, and 10x Farm Soil. Use your axe to cut down some trees to get Wood, defeat bandits to get Metal Scraps, and get Farm Soil from the Farmer.

Once you are ready to begin your farming operation, go ahead and select the Construction Hammer and select the Terrain options. Then, select Farm Soil from your Materials list. Build your Farm in whatever shape and size you wish.

It is time to get some Seedlings! Interact with the Seedbed and select any Seedling recipe you want and then offer the appropriate resources to craft them. You can check out all Seedling Recipes here.

Once you have finished crafting your Seedling - it will take a good chunk of time - select it from your Backpack and then plant it in the Farm Soil you built before. All you need to do now is play the waiting game. You will be able to harvest resources once the Seedlings are fully grown.

If you wish to get more recipes - there are a total of 23 different Seedlings - just keep gathering resources in the wild. I would suggest building several Seedbeds to improve the speed of your Seedling crafting efforts since it will take multiple minutes to complete a single batch of Seedlings.
