Dragon’s Dogma 2 has quite a few vocations to choose from if you find you’re bored of the one you chose. While you can switch vocations at any point, all but your starting vocation require unlocking first. This guide provides the necessary steps to unlock the vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2.
How To Unlock Every Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There are some vocations that are only able to be played by the Arisen, while some are available for both Pawns and the Arisen. The vocations available to both the Arisen and the Pawns are the following:
- Archer
- Fighter
- Thief
- Mage
- Warrior
- Sorcerer
The following vocations are only available to the player:
- Mystic Spearhand
- Magick Archer
- Trickster
- Warfarer
You can access the Archer, Fighter, Thief, and Mage from the start of the game. If you want to unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer, you’ll have to make your way to the capital city. This city is called Vernworth.

Unlocking Sorcerer and Warrior
Be prepared to go questing to unlock Warrior and Sorcerer. First, make your way to the Vocation Guild in Vernworth. Once you’ve spoken to them, you’ll be given a quest called Vocation Frustration. This quest will take you to the Trovo mine, where you’ll need to get a greatsword and an archistaff.
Once you’ve made your way through the Trovo mine and retrieved the two items from deep in the mine, you want to head back to Vernworth, and give the items in at the Vocation Guild. This will allow you to unlock Sorcerer and Warrior.
Unlocking Trickster
The Trickster vocation may take you a little while to unlock, as you will need to go on a bit of an adventure to get it. You will need to obtain a quest called Flickering Shadows. You receive this quest after completing the prerequisite quests in Bakbattahl, where you will then receive the Flickering Shadows mission.
Once you’ve completed the tasks within the quest, you need to speak to an NPC called Luz, who will unlock the vocation for you.
Unlocking Mystic Spearhand
The Mystic Spearhand has two locations that you can go to in order to unlock the class. It depends on which one you get to first. One may be relatively early in the campaign, while the other will be once the difficulty of the game has ramped up a little bit.
The first location where you can unlock the Mystic Spearhand is in Melve. However, the NPC you need to speak to may not be here until you have completed some other quests. Should you make your way to the Dragonsbreath Tower in the jungle, you will certainly meet this NPC.
To unlock the vocation, you simply need to speak to Sigurd, and you’ll have the Mystic Spearhand vocation unlocked.
Unlocking Magick-Archer
It may be a little while until you unlock the Magick-Archer, as the NPC you need to speak to is in the Agamen Volcanic Island. You’ll need to make your way to the Windwalker’s home, where you’ll meet two individuals. One is a woman called Cliodhna and her husband, Gautstafr.
You’ll initially need to help him back home before he tells you he wants to go to the hot springs. Like most escort missions, he takes an agonizingly long time to make it to the hot springs. Once there, his wife will reveal herself as the Magick-Archer Maister, and you can then learn the vocation from her.
Unlocking Warfarer
Luckily, to unlock Warfarer you’ll need to be in the same place as where you completed the Magick-Archer quest, Agamen Volcanic Island. There is a man there called Lamond, and he requires three bottles of Newt Liqueur. As a reward, he will teach you the Warfarer vocation.
That’s everything you need to know about how to unlock all of the new vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
