With Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen, the doors to the Throne World are finally open. Savathun introduces herself in the latest expansion with new gear, weapons, strikes, and many other activities to look forward to. Navigating this new era can be overwhelming, but don’t fret — we’re here to help. This guide explains The Witch Queen‘s Rising Tensions quest, how to start it, and a walkthrough of all the steps towards the new exotic weapon as the reward.

Rising Tensions Quest Steps – Recurrent Impact Unlock
Progress through The Witch Queen campaign until you’ve completed The Relic quest. Talk to Ikora Rey at The Enclave in Mars to hand it in, receiving the Synaptic Spear artifact as a reward. Once that’s done, you automatically gain the Rising Tensions quest.
Step 1: Complete “The Investigation”
You obtain The Investigation quest right after completing The Relic, so you can’t miss it. It’s a lengthy mission, but don’t fret, as our guide explains how to start it as well as a walkthrough if you get lost.
Step 2: Learn More About the Throne World
Simple enough, this step is automatically completed once you finish The Investigation, so don’t worry about missing it.
Step 3: Meeting Attended
Meet with the Vanguard and Empress Caiatl in the Tower Hangar. This is easy: Open the Destinations tab, select the Tower, and once there head east towards the Hangar. Once inside, you can’t miss the quest banner. Interact with it to watch a cutscene and move to the next step of The Witch Queen‘s Rising Tensions.
Step 4: Caiatl’s Briefing Heard
After the cutscene is over, you are taken to the H.E.L.M. space. This is convenient, as you need to interact with the War Table on the northern end.
Step 5: Saladin’s Briefing Heard
This is started right after you finish the briefing with Caiatl, so you don’t have to do anything. Neat.
Step 6: Hive Lieutenant Secured
Time to take part in the PsiOps Battleground activity. You can access this playlist via the Destinations tab. The location may change depending on the weekly rotation. On my end, the quest mentioned EDZ, so I went to the EDZ through the Destinations menu and started the activity from there.
Complete the activity to get to the final step.
Step 7: Saladin’s Briefing Heard
Get ready for one final briefing. That is all for the Rising Tensions quest in Destiny 2‘s The Witch Queen.
Finishing this quest grants you the Recurrent Impact legendary machine gun as well as access to Operation Elbrus, which is the seasonal quest. From this point on, you can start earning Intel, which is the seasonal currency. Have fun with your new allegiance against Savathun!
