Destiny 2 Season of the Lost Calendar Guide – Roadmap, Event Dates

It feels like I was just saying this last month, but the final Destiny 2 season before the The Witch Queen expansion has arrived! Today marks the start of the Season of the Lost as Mara has returned from her self-imposed exile. While Bungie is yet to put out one of its traditional season calendars, saying it’s coming in the “near future,” we’re here to put together what we can for you. This season is highlighted by a new weekly mission type, yet another 6-player matchmade activity, and some new exotics to chase down.

While we can’t promise exact dates keep the following in mind while planning weddings or vacations in the near future. The season is scheduled to end on February 22, 2022.

More Destiny 2:

When does the Destiny 2 Season of the Lost Start and End?

Season of the Lost kicked off on August 24. It ends on February 22 when The Witch Queen releases. It was likely scheduled to end this year, but the release of the next expansion has been moved back due to COVID delays.

Then What?

Again, information is incredible sparse, but the season kicks off today with the Astral Alignment matchmade activity and the Shattered Realm weekly mission.

Outside of that, all we know is there’s one exotic weapon quest coming up and three seasonal events before things close out. Nothing in between has been detailed yet. It’s a surprisingly light slate that’s likely been overlooked due to the sheer amount of Witch Queen information.

  • September 10
    • Trials of Osiris (Revamped with Solo and Duo Matchmaking)
      • Can now keep playing after three losses to earn gear.
  • Unknown Dates:
    • Iron Banner
    • Ager’s Scepter Exotic Trace Rifle Quest
    • Festival of the Lost (Usually October)
    • Moments of Triumph
    • The Dawning (Usually Around the New Year)

As per usual, all of the seasonal events are free for everyone. The content locked behind the season pass is the Astral Alignment activity, the weekly missions related to the story, and the Ager’s Scepter quest. There may be more, but Bungie hasn’t released enough information for us to know for sure.

To make up for a six month long season, Bungie is planning on adding additional Bright Dust challenges and resetting everyone’s Synthweave token which limits folks to ten ornament unlocks per season.

What Season comes after Season of the Lost?

We don’t know yet! But we do know that it will launch alongside the upcoming Witch Queen expansion which takes us to Savathun’s Throne World and introduces the Lucent Brood, weapon crafting, and an all new weapon type! Each season will come with its own Premium Pass, which grants access to new activities, new exotic gear, and new Universal Ornament cosmetic goodies for people that want to buy in. Basically, expect to see more of what you saw this season when that launches on February 22.
