Each week since Destiny 2 Shadowkeep’s launch, Eris Morn has offered us a Memory Pursuit quest. These tasks are tied to lost members of her former fireteam, and completing each one will reward you with powerful gear as well as a little information from Eris herself. Oh, and each one dispels one of the Nightmares tormenting Eris, too. The last Memory Pursuit will be on the week of Halloween, which is also the week that the Shadowkeep dungeon launches.
This week’s Memory Pursuit tasks Guardians with reassembling the journal of Toland the Shattered. You know, that helpful slash insufferable Navi-like floating orb? Well, Toland was a part of Eris’s fireteam back in the day, and his lust for knowledge cost them all dearly. Now, it’s time to help Eris put those memories to rest.
Defeat a Trove Guardian
The first step in this Memory Pursuit is to defeat a Trove Guardian. This is a roaming Knight enemy you can find on the Moon. Early on in Shadowkeep it was kind of a rough customer, but if you’ve been playing at all for the past few weeks you shouldn’t have any trouble taking him down. The real trouble is finding him.
The Trove Guardian rotates through areas on the Moon. As of this writing, he can be found in Archer’s Line. Check out our Trove Guardian Guide for the full details. Once you take him out, look for a long, floating platform in the air nearby. Climb onto it, then follow the path of platforms that appear. Eventually you’ll reach a chest, which will complete this part of the quest.
Get Hive Relic Sword Kills
Somehow, you’re going to restore pages of Toland’s journal by finding a Hive Relic Sword and hitting things with it. Where do you get a Hive Relic Sword, you ask? Well, Swordbearer Knights spawn during any public events on the Moon where Hive are involved — so Warsat Down and Hive Ritual. But there’s a much simpler way to get this step done. See, the kills don’t need to be made on the Moon.
So take a trip back to Mars and start up an Escalation Protocol event. Once you get to the part of the event where you have to stand in a Hive sigil, take out the floating crystals and a Knight will spawn right next to you that will drop a Hive Relic Sword. Go to town on nearby enemies to rack up kills. If you don’t get enough with the one sword, you can always do another round of Escalation Protocol. It shouldn’t take you more than ten minutes.
Return to Eris Morn
Once you’ve magically summoned a book by killing things, go back to the Moon. Head into the portal to the right of where Eris usually is to find her brooding over a table. Hand her the journal, but don’t grab your reward from the chest right away. Instead, talk to Eris a couple more times to get some more information about Toland and her fireteam. You’ll know you can’t get any more when Eris warps away, back to her usual spot. Take your reward and you’re done this Memory Pursuit!
