Destiny 2 Ikelos SG Guide – How to Get the Ikelos SG & the God Roll

Previously, the Ikelos shotgun was one of the beloved PVE weapons in all of Destiny 2. Heavily used by the best teams during The Last Wish raid World’s First race, the Ikelos SG was an absolute powerhouse. Returning with random rolls during Season of Arrivals, this shotgun is attempting to once again rise through the ranks as a top tier PVE weapon. While it’s not the best shotgun in the game, it is will a great choice for those who prefer Rapid-Fire Frames. Unfortunately, farming for this weapon is going to be a little trickier than the other Ikelos firearms as it’s tied to a single activity.

If you’re looking to farm the Ikelos SG here’s how to get it and what the god roll is.

How to Get the Ikelos_SG_v1.0.2

You can earn the Ikelos_SG_v1.0.2 from the chest after you defeat the Kell Echo in the new Prophecy Dungeon. This is the only location you can obtain the Ikelos SG, so if you want this weapon you’ll need to grind this new activity. Keep in mind, while you won’t receive Pinnacle drops, you can ruin the dungeon as many times as you want and still get loot. Because of this, I recommend loading a second or even third character into the end encounter to checkpoint the Kell Echo fight. That way you can quickly breeze past the majority of this activity.

Keep in mind, the Prophecy dungeon is going away next season so if you really want this weapon you’ll want to grind for it. Once November 10th arrives, it will rotate out for Beyond Light’s season and hopefully return sometime in the spring. Bungie has already confirmed that do plan on the dungeon coming back, as it’s removal is for technical reasons. Thankfully, with Beyond Light delayed you have a lot of extra time to dive into this endgame dungeon.

Ikelos SG God Roll

  • Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Tactical Mag
  • Feeding Frenzy or Lead From Gold
  • Rampage or Trench Barrel

The Ikelos SG is a strong choice that can absolutely melt enemies with the right perk combination. Keep in mind, the Ikelos is not the boss killing machine it once was. That duty has been relegated to weapons such as Xenophage or Falling Guillotine, which have a much higher burst damage output. That being said, this shotgun is still superb for general mods or Major tier enemies. For our first slot, we are looking for Hammer-Forged Rifling to give us that boost to range, while Tactical Mag increases our magazine size, stability, and reload speed. Alternatively, you can go for Accurized Rounds if you want an even longer-ranged shotgun.

For the major perks slot, Feeding Frenzy and Lead From Gold are both solid options. Ideally, you’ll want wedding Frenzy, as it combos nicely with Rampage. This allows you to quickly burst down Majors, shattering their health bars thanks to the damage increase. Trench Barrel is mainly for melee-focused players who don’t mind punching an enemy first. Just remember, this perk got nerfed so only the first few shots will receive Trench Barrel’s bonus stat increases!

Some of you might notice we don’t have a god roll for PVP. The reasoning is, this weapon simply isn’t ideal for the Crucible, as there are much better options if you want to use a shotgun. I strongly recommend farming for First In, Last Out if PVP is your goal. That being said, if you absolutely must have an Ikelos for PVP, aim for Moving Target and Elemental Capacitor. It’s the only really solid combination of PVP perks, but again, just use a different shotgun in the Crucible.

Now get out there Guardian and start farming for this iconic Destiny 2 weapon!
