Savathun is finally here, which can only mean that Destiny 2’s highly anticipated expansion has been released. The Witch Queen has players finally confront one of the franchise’s most popular villains in her own throne world. Not only is this DLC introducing a new story, but there are also a ton of new weapons, armor, exotics, consumables, and activities for players to participate in. The Witch Queen also marks the release of the Void 3.0 update, which drastically reworks the void subclass and new exotics to build around.
Unsurprisingly, you will be doing a lot of material and experience farming in The Witch Queen. However, some of the best methods for acquiring the extremely rare Ascendant Alloy are locked behind Fynch’s vendor rank. This can be frustrating for those wanting to immediately dive deep into crafting. Thankfully, YouTuber Saltagreppo has found a comically quick way to farm Fynch’s rank that will likely be patched in the future. I give full credit to Saltagreppo for discovering this method, so make sure to check out their video!
Here’s how Saltagreppo’s method works and what prep you need to do beforehand:
The Prep
Before you can begin farming, you need to hit Rank 15 on Fynch to unlock the Deepsight Tier 3 ability. This is the most tedious part because there is no super quick farming method early on. I did a combination of completing Lost Sectors, Public Events, Patrols, and hunting for chests/resources in the patrol zones. Of the Patrols, you will want to do the Evidence ones (shown above) as they are simple — these just ask you to go to an area and scan something. It requires almost no effort and can be finished quickly.
Alternatively, you can grab any of the kill-focused Patrols and head into the Miasma Lost Sector. This Lost Sector can be completed the fastest and will reward you a little over a hundred faction experience for completing it. That being said, getting to Rank 15 takes some time, but it’s absolutely worth it once you reach it. Additionally, make sure to put on your Combo Detector Ghost mod so you can easily find any resource nodes or faction chests lying around. They don’t offer a ton of XP, but every little bit helps!
The Farm
Once you hit Rank 15, go buy the Deepsight Tier 3 ability. Now, hop onto your Sparrow and make your way to the Florescent Canal patrol zone. Follow the road in this palace until you reach the northern end. You are looking for the entry way (shown above) which will lead you down a series of long hallways until you reach the big courtyard in the Queen’s Bailey.
Run to the other side until you see this Deepsight orb surrounded by some torches. Once triggered, your goal is to light up all six torches. The catch is shooting one will cause others to turn off. This may require a bit of trial an error, as there are several patterns it can be. However, once you’ve run it enough you should be able to quickly complete this trial. Opening up the chest will give you a whopping 200 faction experience and a piece of Throne World loot.
Now, while facing the direction you entered from, cut across the courtyard and go to the back left corner. You will see another Deepsight orb, so run up to it and trigger this investigation. Just turn towards the wall (shown above) and climb up the platforms that appeared until you reach the chest. Oh look! 200 more experience and another Throne World drop!
Finally, head inside the door (shown above) and trigger the Deepsight node at the top of the staircase. All you have to do is shoot the five Witch Queen sumbols that appear in the room. These can spawn on any of the walls of the pillar in front of you. Once five have been destroyed, you will unlock another chest that, say it with me now, has 200 experience and a Throne World loot item.
The catch is all of the chests are infinitely repeatable! Once you finish the third chest, go to Orbit, and then head back to the Throne World. Now just go to Queen’s Bailey, open the three chests, and repeat this process all over again. You can quickly gain ranks with almost no effort and a ton of weapons/armor pieces. This is terrific for unlocking the Throne World armor set, shader, weapons, and additional activities. I strongly recommend you do this before it inevitably gets patched. After you get a rhythm down, you can make a full run in as little as 4-5 minutes.
